Commissioned by the "Florida" Team at the University of Florida, this illustration was developed to accompany an editorial on the evolution of the University and it's mascot. "Florida" is an alumni publication aimed at informing, entertaining and fundraising by alumni young and old.
The evolution crosses almost a century from early UF AlbertĀ - A real, living alligator that took up residence on campus to Pogo Albert who was an early attempt at humanizing the reptilian mascot and finally to Albert the Alligator, resembles a real gator with two-legged mobility.
Albert was later accompanied by Alberta, his blushing bride ( Not shown)
